Note: This will work with Indian cellular user like Airtel, Idea,Vodafone, Aircel & others. Personally using this trick since last six years.
Any of the cellular providers don’t want to loose their valued postpaid user. These users are the major part of their profit sector.
Suppose you are a postpaid customer and really tired with hefty monthly bills you pay. All you have to do is to generate a PORT request and in a while you will receive a feedback call from your service provider asking about, why you want to switch. Just mention the reason that you want more services and less monthly pay. They will suggest you plans which can meet your requirements for eg,
I was using INR 299 plan with following benefits :
600 local call.
800 MB of 3G data and Unlimited 2G data.
After the port request, they offered me INR 599 plan with following benefits:
12oo local + 250 std min local
3.1 gb of 4g data and 200 SMS.
Now the best part , since i was thinking of porting, they offered me a discount of INR 299 over this plan for a period of 6 months. Now i pay INR 300 + taxes. which is almost the same i use to pay earlier. Isn't that great savings ?
To initiate a PORT request :
- From your mobile number send a Port Out request to your current operator by typing " < Port > < space> < mobile number >" to 1900. (charges as per your current operator SMS rate)
- You will receive an SMS from 1901 with a Unique Port Code (UPC). This is valid for 15 days and will enable us to switch your number to any service provider.
